You'll find bathing beaches in Sandvik, and on a nearby island in Lake Rusken. There are walking trails along the shore of the lake as well locations for bird spotting. The forests around Rusken include fine areas for berry and mushroom picking. Swings, a playhouse, a trampoline and a small football pitch are provided for children.

The famous narrow-gauge railway, Ohsabanan, runs 8 km south of Sandvik. North of the fishing camp there is a lookout point that gives you a fantastic view over Lake Rusken. Nydala Monastery, with its beautiful 12^th century church, is situated by the north of the lake. There, you will also find a walking trail called Munkaleden (the monks' trail). The nearest golf course is 21 km from Sandvik.

Recommended attractions less than an hour's drive away include the indoor swimming pool Familjebadet, the Boda Borg questing and adventure centre and the shooting centre Sävsjö Skyttecenter - all located in Sävsjö. If you head west you'll find the High Chaparall wild west amusement park, or maybe visiting a café in the tranquil and picturesque Apladalen nature park in Värnamo is more your cup of tea. If you're interested in home furnishings you can visit IKEA in Jönköping or how about the nearby Kingdom of Furniture? This is a hub for furniture manufacturers, agents and retailers in Lammhult.

Further afield, Astrid Lindgren's World in Vimmerby or the Liseberg Amusement Park in Gothenburg are great places for a day out.
